Carpet should be installed in accordance with Australian and New Zealand standards and manufacturer’s instructions (carpet, underlay, floor preparation materials and installation adhesives).
The installation standards are:
- AS 2455.1 – Textile floor coverings – Installation practice – General
- AS 2455.2 – Textile floor coverings – Installation practice – Carpet Tiles
The carpet installation must comply with relevant Building Code of Australia and Access Code performance requirements relating to fire safety, slip resistance and disability access. Power stretching ‘wall to wall’ carpet is essential. Check the Carpet Institute’s members list for suppliers of carpet, underlay, installation adhesives and installation accessories.
